Course overview

Protostructure is an integrated structural analysis, design, and detailing software used for designing reinforced concrete and steel buildings. It allows you to model a complete 3D building, analyse structural behaviour, design members according to codes and automatically generate reinforcement detailing and drawings. CADS RC is a structural detailing software specifically developed for reinforced concrete detailing. It is widely used in the UK and other countries that follow British Standards and Eurocodes. CADS RC focuses mainly on reinforcement detailing, automated detailing and generating Bar Bending Schedules (BBS).

This course is designed to equip students with the knowledge and practical skills required to confidently design reinforced concrete buildings, including residential, commercial, and industrial structures.

By the end of the course, students will be able to carry out complete structural design and detailing of reinforced concrete buildings in accordance with relevant design codes.

The course is delivered through a comprehensive practical project involving the structural analysis, design, and detailing of a three-storey building (two suspended floors). Students are guided step-by-step through: Structural modelling, Load assessment and analysis Design of slabs, beams, columns, and foundations, reinforcement detailing and Preparation of structural drawings.

The focus is on combining manual design principles with software-based application to ensure proper understanding of structural behaviour and not just software operation.

COURSE OUTLINE

Protastructure

- Preparing the structural scheme or general arrangement on Autocad.

-Exporting into Protastructure and modelling 

-Analysis and Design. Understanding the design results and making structural judgements.

-Design of beam, column, slab, pad foundations, and raft foundation.

-Exporting details in protadetails.

- Design of staircase

  CADS RC DETAILING

-Detailing of beam, pad base,  slab and column.

-Detailing of staircase

-Using the Schedule tool in Cads Rc to know the total weight of rebar.

-Generating bar bending schedule

-Detailing of raft slab and beam.
