STRUCTURAL DETAILING USING AUTOCAD AND CADS RC

Course Overview

In this course, a complete structural design workflow was demonstrated.  A design was done using  ProtaStructure for analysis and design. The detailing outputs were generated using ProtaDetails and exported into AutoCAD, where they were developed into full construction drawings suitable for real-life building projects.

The training focused on taking a project from structural design to fully documented construction drawings, emphasizing practical detailing, drafting standards, and drawing production techniques.

1. Foundation and Floor Layout Creation

• Development of foundation layout plans
• Arrangement of grid lines and structural alignment
• Floor framing layout and structural positioning

2. Detailing of Foundations

• Isolated footing detailing
• Combined footing detailing
• Reinforcement detailing and annotation
• Sectional views and construction notes

3. Column Detailing

• Column reinforcement detailing (starter bars, links, laps)
• Column schedules and elevation drawings
• Connection of columns to foundations and beams

4. Slab Detailing

• One-way and two-way slab reinforcement detailing
• Mesh layouts and bar bending schedules
• Openings, edges, and support conditions

5. Beam Detailing

• Longitudinal and shear reinforcement detailing
• Beam elevations and sections
• Support detailing and anchorage requirements

6. Staircase Detailing

• Stair geometry and layout development
• Reinforcement detailing for waist slab and steps
• Landing and support detailing

7. Documentation and Drawing Presentation

a. Layout Setup in AutoCAD

• Creating drawing sheets (layouts)
• Setting scale, title blocks, and viewports
• Organizing structural sheets for submission

b. Printing and Plotting

• Page setup configuration
• Line weights and plot styles
• Exporting drawings to PDF for construction use
